A common mistake I see many of the beginners who start with Watercolors do is not using artist grade watercolors. Many people keep asking me in my workshops or Instagram Live sessions if they can start with any non professional or non artist grade colors. Here is why you should NOT DO THAT AT ALL. The problem is, if you use some other student grade watercolor to begin with, then you will NOT get good results no matter how good you paint. Instead you can go for a low cost, affordable set of Watercolors to start with as a beginner, but make sure that you are using ARTIST GRADE Watercolors only. They can be either tubes or pans, that doesn't make much of a difference but it MUST BE ARTIST GRADE. How to check if the colors are artist grade Watercolors? Don't worry much about it. You just need to check if it is mentioned on the pack of those colors that they are artist grade watercolors. That's it. Sounds easy right ? Yes it is ! So, now that you know what you should mainl
When I started painting, I kept on trying various mediums or styles to explore new things. I never had to keep thinking about what to do next and I thought that's the exact case with all artists, until recently when someone asked me on my Instagram page that 'How do you deal with Art blocks !?' That time I came across this new term known as an 'Art Block' which I hadn't heard or faced ever before.

What do you actually mean by an Art block ?
Then, I came to know that it happens to artists or creator's when they run out of ideas to create something new.
Personally, I have never faced this situation till now since there are sooo many things on my to do list already, that I can't ever sit in a corner thinking about what next !? But if you are facing such Art Blocks, then you are at the right place ! Keep reading till the end to put an end to your blocks now on...
The main reason why I have never faced this issue is because I am always excited to try out new things. New Styles. New Mediums. So don't be scared to try out anything new. In the start, even if you feel that it's not your cup of tea, don't worry. If you watch some videos on YouTube or Instagram or Skill share or from anywhere else, and if something in that video interests you, then you must try it out. Just gather the required materials and try doing it once. Don't be afraid to start with new things. Don't decide that you won't be able to do it before even giving it a try.
If you ask me to list down the things I do, that to just limited to arts, I might just fill up one entire blog with different things I do. So, don't hesitate to try out different things. It will help you get soo many new ideas and will definitely open up so many new options for you.
Ok, so if you don't wish to try something different but wish to continue with your own medium (for eg. watercolors) But again you are not getting enough ideas to go on, then what ?!
If this is the problem you are facing then I would highly recommend you to just go through different works first. There are soo many platforms where you will keep on finding inspiration for Painting.
If you want some direct links for some Painting Ideas I have listed my own sites below. Also remember taking inspiration and copying are two different things. Its not a good thing to copy art or try it out or post it anywhere without the artists prior permission.
Apart from this, you can also just click photos of Different scenes or places that interest you when you travel and later you can try to paint them !
Examples of some pictures I have clicked.

Few more tips which might help you
- Try not to overdo the artwork which you are doing, or you might just end up ruining it.
- Take a break. Go out in fresh air. Its ok to take sometime away from art. Your mind and body needs some breaks occasionally and understand that it's totally normal to do so.
- Use the right type of Materials. This is a must even if you are a beginner because sometimes bad quality material can ruin everything. This doesn't mean that you need to buy costly material. You can buy affordable materials which are of good quality. I have already written a blog on 'Good Quality Affordable Watercoloring Materials' If you want me to write about any other materials in detail, then please leave a comment below to let me know.
- Don't aim for perfection. Go slow. Enjoy the process. Art is something which keeps on getting better and better with time. So give it sometime. Keep practicing daily. Paint for your own happiness rather than for the outcome.
