A common mistake I see many of the beginners who start with Watercolors do is not using artist grade watercolors. Many people keep asking me in my workshops or Instagram Live sessions if they can start with any non professional or non artist grade colors. Here is why you should NOT DO THAT AT ALL. The problem is, if you use some other student grade watercolor to begin with, then you will NOT get good results no matter how good you paint. Instead you can go for a low cost, affordable set of Watercolors to start with as a beginner, but make sure that you are using ARTIST GRADE Watercolors only. They can be either tubes or pans, that doesn't make much of a difference but it MUST BE ARTIST GRADE. How to check if the colors are artist grade Watercolors? Don't worry much about it. You just need to check if it is mentioned on the pack of those colors that they are artist grade watercolors. That's it. Sounds easy right ? Yes it is ! So, now that you know what you should mainl
With so many new users coming up each day, Instagram has really become a difficult platform to survive in. Also, the new algorithm has been something that no one is able to figure out and hence everyone's just trying out different things to survive the race.
Everyone is trying to do something or the other to get engagement on Instagram everyday. But are your efforts really working ? Are you getting good engagement ?
So now, to the real question. What is engagement ? and How to get good engagement on your Instagram account ?
To begin with, engagement is just the amount of people who engage with your content daily. It maybe the likes you get, the Comments, the replies, etc. Simply put, its the number of people who see your content and take a moment to see it or appreciate it in someway.
Firstly, if you are new and yet to start a new Instagram Account or have just now opened a new account, then tap on the title ahead and read this blog on '10 Tips to Start your Instagram Creative Account'
Now let's get straight to the point and see what to do to increase your engagement daily.
How to make people notice your account ?
If you have already made your account, you can go in the edit profile section and change or edit all your details including the user name or your name and bio. Make sure that your username or name has some keywords to your niche. (Niche is the type of content you are focusing on in your account. For eg. it can be a art account specific to a particular medium or a dance account specific to a certain style, etc)
Along with this, also make sure you have a legible and large enough profile picture. It can be your own photo, or your brand logo, or anything else. The profile photo must fit in a circular shape since that is how it appears on Instagram.
2. UPDATE YOUR BIO
Write down important things in your bio. Keep it short with just 3-4 pointers. Mention what your page is about or any other information you want people to know about you or your page. You can use some emojis to add some interest.
You can also put up your website if you have it in your bio website section. It's not a compulsory thing to do, but if you have a website then you can surely put it there.
3. OPTIMIZE YOUR ACCOUNT
Make sure you fill up all the details when you start your account itself. If you have already made your account, you can still go it the edit profile section to change all your visible profile details. You can go to your settings and switch your regular account to a Creator's Account. By doing this you will get access to different tools and insights.
Insights will help you find you daily growth and show your detailed analytics of various things like your followers, reach, engagement, Comments, links, views, etc. While tapping on insights, you can get daily, weekly and monthly information on various aspects of your account growth. You can also see detailed information of the engagement analytics of any particular post that you posted by tapping on that post's insights.
4. USE HASHTAGS
Instagram allows to to use 30 hashtags per post. Make sure to use all 30 hashtags in your post description itself. Don't add them in the comments, use them in the description only. You can space them away from your caption by leaving some lines in between and add all the #tags together in the end. Use some large following #tags and some smaller following one's.
5. POST REGULARLY
Be regular with your posts and content. Try to post atleast one reel or post everyday so that your engagement keeps on increasing a bit daily. Also, if you ever feel that you are out of new ideas or are facing an art block, then tap on the title ahead and read this blog on '10 Tips to Start your Instagram Creative Account'
6. POST GOOD QUALITY VIDEO & PHOTOS
Also, do post photos with good quality, good colors and in proper lighting. For this, click your photos in either day light or put on some artificial lights while clicking your photos for posting. Along with this, you can also maintain your feed by using some sort of same background or by using a particular color scheme, etc.
If you wish to know more about the tools I use while shooting or clicking, then you must definitely tap on the title ahead and read this blog on '5 Tips on Shooting your Art Videos'
7. USE INSTAGRAM REELS & IGTV VIDEOS
Apart from that you can post longer videos to the IGTV section. These is not a must do thing but something extra you can do. In the IGTV you can post longer videos that teach something depending upon your niche it can be Painting, or some dance, or anything else.
Reels are a new feature on Instagram which lets you record and post a 15 seconds or 30 seconds short video. Reels are having good engagement in the form of likes or views daily so you can definitely give it a try. You can add different music's available or write some text on your reel's depending upon what the reel video is about.
8. USE INSTAGRAM STORIES
Stories are a great great way to engage with your followers. You can post different stories or polls daily. You can ask questions to your audience on stories to get better insight on what they like. You can also drop your new posts in the stories so that people tap on it and see it.
9. ENGAGE WITH OTHERS
You can engage with your friends or other similar accounts by liking, commenting on their posts or by sharing their posts on your stories. In this way you can support each other if you are a new account and wish to grow more. Also remember, not to spam too much while doing this as Instagram could find it suspicious and might restrict your activity or block you for sometime or days.
10. BE CONSISTENT
Consistency is the key to success on Instagram. By following all the above steps, you will not get too many followers flooding your page immediately. But, being consistent will help you with good engagement soon. You need to follow all the steps but you should also not loose hope by doing this just for a month or two. If you are consistent for a really long time, then you will see a steady increase in your engagement. For some people it might be too fast while for some it will be slow depending upon your content. So, keep posting everyday and don't worry about the rest.
So, these were a few things you can do to boost up your engagement a bit more. The engagement is different for all the users depending upon your content. So, don't lose hope and keep trying with all of these to get good engagement on you Instagram. For any other questions, feel free to drop a comment or DM me on Instagram @artyvibesbysanika
