A common mistake I see many of the beginners who start with Watercolors do is not using artist grade watercolors. Many people keep asking me in my workshops or Instagram Live sessions if they can start with any non professional or non artist grade colors. Here is why you should NOT DO THAT AT ALL. The problem is, if you use some other student grade watercolor to begin with, then you will NOT get good results no matter how good you paint. Instead you can go for a low cost, affordable set of Watercolors to start with as a beginner, but make sure that you are using ARTIST GRADE Watercolors only. They can be either tubes or pans, that doesn't make much of a difference but it MUST BE ARTIST GRADE. How to check if the colors are artist grade Watercolors? Don't worry much about it. You just need to check if it is mentioned on the pack of those colors that they are artist grade watercolors. That's it. Sounds easy right ? Yes it is ! So, now that you know what you should mainl
How I shoot my Painting Videos and what all material do I use for shooting !?
This is one of the questions I get a lot of times. So, I am writing down in short about the different things I use to shoot and how I arrange my video frame. I am also providing all the links to the materials or appliances I use for shooting so you can buy it from those links directly.
1. GOOD QUALITY VIDEO SHOOTING DEVICE
Always shoot in 1080p for good video quality. This can be done by using a professional camera, or a small digital camera or a mobile phone with a good camera will also work. I mostly use either of these 3 for shooting my videos. Earlier I used to shoot with my DSLR camera but now I prefer shooting with my phone as it gives me almost similar results and it is way more convenient to use.
The links for a good shooting devices (with 2340 x 1080 p resolution) are given below. You can check them out to buy.

2. GOOD LIGHTING
Make sure that you either shoot in a place where there is good amount of natural day light available or else use an artificial light for a better video. I like shooting my video's in day light itself but I sometimes also use artificial lighting. I have some amazing adjustable led lamps which really work well when I need close up lights for shooting my Painting tutorials or doing live session in the evening time ! Remember to position your lights correctly. Its better to have adjustable light lamp so you can adjust it in all ways when you record your videos.
I am putting down the links to those right here. You can check them out and buy them if you find it useful.
3. GOOD STAND TO SHOOT STEADILY
You must never shoot your videos by holding the camera or the phone in your hands. You must use some sort of stand to rest your device while shooting so that the shooting does not get shaky. Earlier when I started shooting my video's, I used the selfie stick I had as a phone holder to shoot my videos. I used to secure the stick at a place with the help of some weight or by sticking it with tapes at one place. Then I bought another tripod stand for shooting the videos with my camera.
After that I shifted to this adjustable phone stand that I am currently using and I think it is the best one I found till date ! The stand is very easy to mount and remove and moves in all directions as we mould it. The top part where the phone is attached also rotates in all angles. Very easy to use and affordable.
I am giving the link of all of these just below so that you can check them out and buy if you like them.

4. SIDE ELEMENTS WHILE SHOOTING
Apart from these things, you can set up small plants, your other paintings, colors, some brush holders, pen stands, mugs, etc. besides your painting for a aesthetic video.
So, I usually love to keep my art supplies besides while shooting. I keep either my colors, or palatte, brushes, water container, tubes, etc besides. Apart from that I use some plants or stones sometimes as side elements. You can also use some brush rests to keep your brushes beside.
Some of the things you can use are linked below.

5. EDITING YOUR VIDEOS
Shoot your entire video. Then, for editing, you can just directly do it in your phone with some basic apps like Inshot, Vidmate, etc. You can add some music, speed up the video if necessary and also add texts if you want while editing your videos. Don't use too many things while editing, keep it simple. Let the focus be on the main video rather than adding extra elements or filters to it. I will write my next detailed blog on video editing.
